Yellow Banded Boxing Shrimp Stenopus cyanoscelis
Yellow Banded Boxing Shrimp Stenopus cyanoscelis
The yellow coral banded shrimp or yellow boxer shrimp gets its name from the 'boxer like' large pincers, although they have a somewhat menacing look they are in fact predominantly peaceful in the marine aquarium. Coral banded shrimp can be housed with other shrimp usually without a problem providing over crowding is avoided; coral banded shrimp should not be kept with conspecifics unless they are a true mated pair, keeping more than one coral banded shrimp in the same aquarium will otherwise likely result in the death of one.
These shrimp are easy to keep, are considered quite hardy and will usually accept a variety of frozen, flake or pellet food without hesitation. These shrimp will also eat small bristle worms so are a useful tool for keeping their population in check.
