Red Coral Crab, Trapezia cymodoce
Red Coral Crab, Trapezia cymodoce
Trapezia are small filter feeding crabs. In the wild the live among the branches of SPS corals. The large claws are used to defend their coral home from anything that would attack them or the coral. Although they live upon SPS corals in the wild, in captivity they will happily sit on a soft coral, anemone, or rock. They do not harm coral and are completely reef safe. They are quite sociable and can be kept in groups of the same or mixed species.
They vary in size from a body (carapace) the size of a 1p coin, upto the size of a 50p coin.
Reef safe. They can be kept singly, or in groups. Some fish such as Puffers and Triggers etc may try to eat them.
