The Ocellate Butterfly Fish is a visually striking marine species, featuring a pale body with bold vertical bands and a distinctive eye-spot (“ocellus”) near the tail. Its graceful swimming and unique markings make it an elegant addition to reef and community aquariums.
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the Philippines, and northern Australia.
Omnivorous — thrives on frozen or live mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine flakes or pellets, with occasional algae grazing.
Best suited for peaceful reef and community tanks, avoiding overly aggressive or nippy species.
Generally peaceful, though may defend small territories in confined aquariums.
