Hector's Goby is a very desirable and useful goby. Hector's Gobies have a long slender body what is mostly black with strong yellow horizontal stripes.
Hector's Gobies reach a maximum adult size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 20 gallons in size. Hector's Gobies are peaceful fish and should not bother other fish in your tank. Hector's Gobies will also not bother inverts or coral, making them a great choice for reef tanks. Hector's Gobies should not be kept with overly aggressive larger fish, since they do not defend themselves well.
Hector's Gobies should be kept in tanks with lots of live rock and sand in them. Hector's Gobies will hide in the rockwork if they are spooked and also pick at small inverts between feedings. Hector's Gobies will also sift sand and eat hair algae, making them useful fish.
Hector's Gobies are omnivores and require a diet rich in both meaty and green foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, nori and marine algae sheets, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Hector's Goby healthy and happy.
